The Rotary Club of Parksville continue to make donations to local community organizations as a result of their weekly Rotary Bottle Drop fundraiser.
Some of the most recent donations include:
• $5,000 to the MAC Community Garden to help grow food security in Parksville and Qualicum Beach through their mission to "grow, glean and distribute local fresh food, and offer garden education and inspiration".
• $3,600 to the Wonderful World Of Books, a program which gives a new book a month to Oceanside children aged one until preschool. The initiative is the brainchild of Eva Hilborn, a nonagenarian "Book Elf" with a mission to create a love of reading in young learners.
• Parksville Rotary has an agreement with 100 Kids For Change to match their donations each quarter. Their last donation was to the Hands & Hearts Food Program. The kids raised $540, the Rotarians matched it and they were able to donate $1,080 to the program.
• $10,000 to the Flowerstone Health Society (which runs the Flowerstone Clinic in Qualicum Beach) toward the purchase of laptop computers to enable the expansion of this much-needed service in the community.
