Jigisha Saani and Jordanna Doolan from Quamichan School have been named as the Rotary Club of Duncan's April Students of the Month for the Grade 9 students' outstanding leadership.
Saani chairs the environmental education and initiatives group. She sits on the school advisory committee as well as the District Student Advisory Council. She also enjoys sports, playing volleyball and soccer for the school teams.
Doolan represents the school’s District Indigenous Student Advisory Council. She is a leader of education of students about indigenous perspective and experience. On May 6, she led the school assembly and spoke on the significance of the Red Dress movement for murdered and missing indigenous women and girls. Doolan is also active in sports, playing on the school soccer team.
"The Rotary Club of Duncan is proud to name Jigisha Saani and Jordanna Doolan as the April Students of the Month," said club President Karen Thorington. She made the presentation of the awards on May 8.
