The Old School House Arts Centre is planning a fundraising night full of world-class jazz music in Qualicum Beach.
Phil Dwyer and Ken Lister will play in the intimate jazz club setting of TOSH on May 8, according to a news release.
"Why does this night matter? Art isn’t just something we admire—it’s something that elevates our lives," the release said. "The artists, musicians, students, and teachers who belong to TOSH bring limitless potential to our community. This event helps keep art in session."
Pianist Dwyer was recognized by the Royal Conservatory of Music as an Honorary Fellow in 2015. Over his 30-year career, he has appeared on 10 Juno Award-winning recordings, and more than 30 nominated recordings.
Lister has been a professional jazz bassist and teacher for over 35 years, and has played, recorded and toured with some of the top musicians in the jazz world, playing on two Juno Award-winning recordings.
Tickets are $75, plus GST and include admission as well as canapés and snacks from Qualicum Beach Cafe
Only 65 seats are available for the show. Seating will be first come, first served.
There will be a bar featuring craft spirits, vermouth, local wine, cider and non-alcoholic options (not included in ticket price).
