The Old School House's recent 'Double Your Membership' campaign was a big success and raised $14,000 to keep the lights on at the arts centre in Qualicum Beach.

"These funds are so important in helping us continue to run our programs and keep art alive in our community. We are beyond grateful for your support!" executive director Illana Hester said in a news release.

The deadline for charitable donations for tax returns was extended to Feb. 28, so there is still time to donate to TOSH, a registered charity and non-profit, Hester added. The arts centre relies on donors to keep its doors open and programs running.

This month, programming includes several painting workshops: Acrylic 101 – Absolute Beginner, Acrylic 102 (a next step for beginners), as well as Life Drawing sessions.

TOSH is also continuing with its entrepreneurial services for queer creatives through a Canadian Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce grant and support from the federal government. The program is open to 2SLGBTQI+ artists living on Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands and no formal portfolio is required.

TOSH's Art in the Attic sale is on until March 1. Two new exhibitions open on March 4.

More information about TOSH's programs and exhibition is available online at theoldschoolhouse.org.
