100 Mile RCMP asking for public help on identifying motorcyclist

A collection of incidents the 100 Mile House RCMP responded to between June 10 and 17

The 100 Mile House RCMP are asking for information from the public on who might be driving a motorcycle linked to speeding violations.

Sgt. Brian Lamb said the B.C. Highway Patrol is seeking information from the public on the identity of a person who is associated with a motorcycle recently observed travelling at a high rate of speed and failing to stop for police on more than one occasion.

"The speeds are well in excess of the posted speed limit, which is considered a danger to other motorists, pedestrians, and to the occupant of the vehicle," Lamb said.

Lamb did not provide exact dates for the speeding incidents, but noted they have occurred on Highway 97 throughout the 100 Mile House area.

RCMP respond to separate B&E incidents

The 100 Mile House RCMP responded to two reported instances of break-and-enter as part of 133 calls for service between June 10 and June 17.

Lamb said the first report was received by the RCMP on June 11 and occurred on Keane Road. A shed was entered where an item was removed and then left behind. RCMP were also advised that the individual(s) attempted to enter a vehicle on the property but the car door was locked, so no entry was made.

The second report was received by the RCMP on the same day and involved a commercial building on Alpine Avenue. RCMP attended and located a male and observed damage to the windows on the property. The adult male was arrested and lodged in cells, and then was released for court at a later date, with proposed charges of mischief.

Vehicle failed to stop for school bus on Horse Lake Road

Lamb said that on June 17, School District 27 told RCMP a vehicle had failed to stop for a school bus travelling along Horse Lake Road.

RCMP, after reviewing video footage, determined the vehicle clearly did not attempt to stop for a bus while its lights were engaged. Additionally, RCMP say they will be following up with the registered owner of the vehicle and will be issuing a violation ticket.

ATV taken from Deka Lake property

An ATV was taken from a property on Farquharson Road in Deka Lake on June 17.

The ATV is described as a yellow 2003 Bombardier 650. The off-road vehicle plate attached is 3B6516.

Lamb said it is believed the ATV was taken between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on the day of the report

Man ticketed for driving with undue care and attention

On June 11, while conducting a foot patrol on Wrangler Way, RCMP observed a vehicle operating erratically in the parking lot area consistent with stunting.

Lamb said officers subsequently stopped the vehicle and the driver was issued a violation ticket for driving with undue care and attention and for having no valid driver's license. The vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Man arrested over violation of no-contact release order

RCMP arrested a man for driving with an individual he was under a court-mandated no-contact order on June 14.

Lamb said the B.C. Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on Keene Road after queries had shown the vehicle had no valid insurance. After speaking with the male driver, it was determined that he had been on court-imposed conditions to have no contact with a passenger of the vehicle.

The male was arrested for breach of a release order and was held in custody for court.

Impaired driver busted after switching seats with passenger

On June 13, while conducting a check stop on Wrangler Way, the RCMP observed a vehicle approaching, then stopping and then turning around.

Lamb said officers subsequently stopped the vehicle, where it was observed the driver and passenger had changed seats. The original driver, who was now sitting in the passenger seat, had displayed symptoms of alcohol consumption.

RCMP conducted a breath test with an approved screening device, which resulted in a fail. The driver was issued an immediate roadside prohibition for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Those with any information about these incidents or others are asked to call the 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456 or anonymously 24 hours a day at Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or online at bccrimestoppers.com.
