An evacuation alert has been issued by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) due to the Dunn Creek/Dunn Lake wildfire.
The alert was issued Tuesday, July 23 at 1 p.m. and is impacting 10 properties in Area O.
The TNRD noted residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to an evacuation order; however, they may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
The Dunn Creek wildfire is 4.5 hectares in size as of Tuesday, July 23 at 2 p.m. It was discovered on July 22 and is listed as out of control on the BC Wildfire Service. Suspected cause of the fire is under investigation.
What You Should Do: Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area, should an evacuation order be issued while separated.
Pack essential items for quick departure, such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, credit, and mortgage information), and immediate care needs for dependents or pets.
Pack keepsakes if time permits. Arrange to stay with family or friends (if possible).
Prepare to move disabled persons, children and/ or neighbours, if assistance is needed. Prepare to take pets with you and move large animals and livestock to a safe area (if possible).
If you are a livestock producer, ensure that you have your Premise ID in the event that you require support if an evacuation order is issued.
Arrange transportation for all your household members.
Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles to be used in case of an evacuation order.
