Bargain hunters will want to see what’s up for grabs at two parking lot swap meets this summer.
The City of Nanaimo is once again hosting a Nanaimo Recycles Car Trunk Sale, with two dates planned. The first trunk sale happens Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Country Club Centre parking lot.
These free-to-attend reuse events try to give unwanted household items a longer lease on life and divert waste otherwise destined for a landfill.
"The Nanaimo Recycles Car Trunk Sales are a fun and practical way for residents to reduce waste and give gently used items a second life,” said John Elliot, city director of public works, in a press release. “By supporting reuse and keeping items out of the landfill, we’re helping build a more sustainable and connected community – one trunk at a time."
The second trunk sale will take place Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vancouver Island University in parking lots L and M. Vendors must pre-register.
