Lake Country council will be presented the next phase of development planned for Copper Hill subdivision at their meeting on June 17, 2025.

Lake Country Council will be hearing of the next phase for a development project later in June that, if passed, will see an emergency exit route constructed for Copper Hill subdivision.

The new construction access road will extend off of Sherman Road through to McCarthy Road and connecting to Bottom Wood Lake Road. This will assist with development activities while limiting construction traffic in other neighbourhoods.

"By planning for road infrastructure in advance of an anticipated development proposal, we’re not only working to strengthen emergency response capabilities with a secondary exit route, but enabling the next stages of the Copper Hill neighbourhood to be developed," said Lake Country Mayor Blair Ireland.

The development will be presented to council on June 17 with construction to begin as early as July if the project gets a thumbs up.

Lake Country staff say once the Copper Hill subdivision is complete, the District will be looking to make the road publicly accessible.

“Council continues to have staff seek opportunities in other Lake Country neighbourhoods to address access concerns,” added Ireland. “We’re very excited to now have the prospect of moving forward with providing a second emergency exit for Copper Hill/Clearwater.”
