PHOTOS: Castlegar homes dazzle in Merry and Bright contest

Winners will receive gift certificates to local shops

In a show of festive spirit, residents decked out their homes in lights and decor for the annual Merry and Bright contest.

The City of Castlegar partnered with Castlegar News, FortisBC, and Mercer Celgar to host the friendly competition again this year, with the chance for winners to share $1,500 in gift certificates to local restaurants, activities, and stores.

On Dec. 17, judges toured the streets after dark to view the contestant's creative holiday displays.

The winners are:

Best Overall

#1. 527 5th Avenue - Ty Wright

#2. 608 Yew Street - Alan and Danica Tomlinson

Most Creative

#1. 2620 4th Avenue - Stan Folster

#2. 1686 Ridgewood Drive - Gaby Grund

"I am very grateful, and this has certainly made my day," said winner Ty Wright. "My family helped out with planning and setting everything up – my wife Jessi, and my two kids Calista and Lux."
