Emergency crews responded to a fatal collision at Highway 97 and Toop Road Monday night, Oct. 30, in Williams Lake.
“We can confirm that sadly one person has passed,” said Williams Lake RCMP Staff Sgt. Brad McKinnon Tuesday morning. “It was a very unfortunate event.”
BC Highway Patrol is taking the lead and working with the Williams Lake RCMP to investigate the crash, McKinnon confirmed.
The intersection was closed for several hours with a southbound detour available via the northbound lanes.
A northbound detour was available via South Broadway to Highway 97.
Emergency vehicles responded to the scene just after 7 p.m.
The scene was cleared by 11:30 p.m.
McKinnon said no further details were being released at this time.
